Labor Shortage
Looms: Philanthropy Can Help Reverse the Trend
Minnesota's labor force is shrinking.
According to a recent address by State Demographer Tom
Gillaspy, the growth of Minnesota 's labor force will slow
to record-low levels within the next five years. Without
importing more workers or dramatically increasing
productivity, the state's economy could stagnate, he said.
Gillaspy identified philanthropy as part of the solution.

Minnesota Meeting in November to better
understand the causes and consequences of homelessness
and promote comprehensive action plans to eliminate
homelessness in Minnesota.
